Wat Rong Khun is one of the most spectacular temples in the world that located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. If you are the one who like things about culture and history, then the temple must be included in your bucketlist. Being in the temple complex of Wat Rong Khun you can feel the atmosphere about life after death, yes heaven and hell.

Wat Rong Khun designed by painter born in Chiang Rai, Chalermchai Kositpipat. Thing that makes this temple is so amazing is the construction, built in white color and enhanced by glass mosaic detail that reflects sunlight giving effect sparkle of diamonds. Started from Wat Rong Khun temple gate until the all the statues are in white. The White Color of the Temple symbolizes purity and wisdom of the Buddha. Heaven and hell in the white temple depicted in form of sculpture and architecture.

The walk route in this temple reflects the shape of human journey toward enlightenment and heaven. There are several rules that must be followed to enter into this white temple, one of them is visitors are not allowed to walk backwards or in reverse direction, if visitors need to go out then they need to follow the walkway up to the exit. The white temple complex is huge and it took about 2-3 hours to enjoy all its beauty.

At the front of the Wat Rong Khun temple, We can see hundreds statue of hands stretched, some of which holding skull and charity pot. That said, the statues symbolized the hands of those who tried to escape from hell.

To enter the temple, we have to pass the bridge guarded by two giant statues in snake-shaped body and man headed with a expression that looks scary. Meanwhile, under the bridge there is a fish pond filled with white koi fish, which is very compatible with this temple. The pond might like a river separate the mortal world and heaven.

The interior of the temple is filled with sculptures and murals created by Chalermchai. Although very beautiful, this place is considered as sacred place and capturing image using camera are not allowed in the room. Location to Wat Rong Khun park quite strategic, being on the edge of a highway linking Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. If you pay a visit to Thailand, the Wat Rong Khun is a tourism spot that you must not miss.
