VICTORIA FALLS – WORLD’S MOST SPECTACULAR NATURAL WATERFALLS
Zimbabwe is one country in Africa that notoriously poor, but behind it there is extraordinary natural beauty, the Victoria Falls.
Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. Victoria Falls lies on the Zambezi River on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, in southern Africa. Victoria Waterfall was included in one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
A Scottish explorer, Dr. David Livingstone found this spectacular waterfall in 1855 and gave it the name ‘Victoria Falls’ which is taken from the name ‘Queen Victoria’. Locals call this waterfall by the name of ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ which means ‘Blaring Smoke’. The waterfall is called Blaring Smoke because this waterfall water drop is so swift and cause noise blaring and splash water looks like white smoke.
Usually People from all over the world come to visit Victoria waterfall between September and December, which is the best time to visit. This occurs when the river flow is reduced, so the adventurous can swim to the extreme edge of the waterfall, into a natural pool, called Devil’s Pool. Yes, at the edge of the waterfall there is a Devil’s Swimming Pool which is called as the most dangerous pool in the world. This pool formed by a row of natural coral that sticks arround the edge of the waterfall.
