Flag Ceremony at Tiananmen Square

 

Tiananmen Square is the heart and symbol of the city of Beijing, it is the largest square in the world. With a width of 500 meters and a length of 880 meters, and land covered with granite. Tiananmen Square became very well known for the massacre of those who pro-democracy at June 4th 1989. On that day many civilians and students become victims.

Tiananmen Square is composed of a flag in the north, Monument of Heroes and Mao Zedong’s Tomb located in the middle of the square, and the Gate Zhengyang in the south. Flag-raising ceremony performed at sunrise and flag-lowering ceremony performed at sunset. though the whole ceremony lasted only about three minutes, but it is became a ritual that is very impressive. With the enthusiasm of the tourists gather to witness the flag ceremony in Tiananmen Square which is conducted everyday by a special squad of the military police of China.

Tiananmen Square was very spacious and beautiful, you surely will enjoy linger in this place. If you feel thirsty or hungry, you can easily get what you want from a grocery store around the square, so no need to bring the preparation from the inn.

Tiananmen Tower or Tiananmen Gate

This one building is the most striking in Tiananmen Square. The tourists who come to this place can easily identify Tiananmen Tower which looks large and equipped with a portrait of Mao Zedong in the middle. This photo was flanked by two placards which each inscribed with the patriotic words. Tiananmen Tower is the entrance to the Imperial City of the Forbidden City. All tourists must pass security inspection before entering this area.

For those of you who are planning to visit the tomb of Mao Zedong, generally you have to queue long to visit, especially on holidays. In the visit, remember to respect local tradition, please dont running around, shouting loud or take photos.
