Petra, is one of the most beautiful ancient city which has best building at that time. The grandeur of buildings that carved from stone calls millions pair of eyes to visit this amazing site.

Petra, which in Greek means “stone” is an archaeological site in Ma’an, Jordan. This place is so famous for its architectural carved on the rocks as well as their irrigation systems. Petra is a symbol of Jordan and the most visited tourist attraction for Jordan. UNESCO declared it as “one of the most important cultural relics in human civilization” and it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 6 December 1985. According to the official site of Petra, the location officially selected as one of the seven wonders of the world in July 2007.

Petra is a city that was founded by carving stone walls in Jordan. Petra is a symbol of science and protection. Petra was once the capital of the Nabatean tribe, one of the groups of Arabs who lived before the advent of Roman empire. Actually, the origin of Nabatean tribe is not known for sure. They are known as a nomadic tribe who travel to various regions and herding camels and sheep. People of petra is idolater. Their main god is Dushara, which is worshiped in the form of black stone. Dushara worshiped side by side with Allat, goddess of the ancient Arabs.

Petra Nabatean tribe irrigation systems are very complex. There is a tunnel of water and water chambers that deliver clean water to the city, thus preventing sudden floods. They also have hydraulic technology to lift water.

In the year 106 AD Roman empire seize Petra and then Around the year 700 AD hydraulic systems and several major buildings destructed. Petra was slowly disappear from the map of the earth and only left as a legend at that time. at 1812, the Swiss adventurer Johann Burckhardt founded this city when he passed off as a Muslim.

While walking in dusty road, we are presented with beautiful reliefs carved on the rock cliffs. After walking about one kilometer visitors will walk among spectacular mountain pass.

After bathing sweat and dust, everything will be relieved when entering the main petra bulding. A close look to the tomb of Roman king which has amazing architecture make every eyes get hypnotized. Look at Petra closely is a sight that can never be forgotten. The mystery and beauty of the city is something that we can not encountered elsewhere. All visitors are amazed by the architecture of ancient Roman’s king tomb that very beautiful and consist of some amazing details.

Beside the tomb of the king, visitors can also see other interesting sights, namely the Alter for sacrifice. Alter for sacrifice located above the rock mountains around Petra. High altar made of stone used as a sacrificing place at ancient Roman times. Around the alter of sacrifice there are lot of tombs which has beautiful landscape. In addition, in Petra there are also some souvenir stalls and photographer that ready to take photo shoot and will give us the result when we get back to the gate.
