Chand Baori – Ancient Well with Tremendous Architecture
Chand Baori is one of the most amazing historic buildings in India, specifically located in Rajasthan. The ancient well have a very incredible architecture. Chand Baori is one of the oldest stepwell in Rajasthan, and it is regarded as one of the largest well in the world, the shape resembles a square, with a depth of thirteen floors.
The Stairs of the well surround from three sides, built one above the other. The fourth side has a set of pavilion Where visitors can see the sculptures with various carvings. There also a special room reserved for the King and Queen to watch art performances.
King Chanda from Nikumbha Dynasty build Chand Baori around the year 800 and 900 AD. The Well Water is cooler about 6 degrees than the surface. This building was very important because Rajasthan is a very dry place and every drop of water is very valuable.
After local citizens of Rajasthan was introduced with the new water system, Chand Baori slowly abandoned. Now, the water is no longer clear because no one taking water from there. But, though it is abandoned, the well still has a charm that not fade. At summer, many locals are sitting on the stairs.
