Carnival of Venice, the Party of Masks
Every year, Venice in Italy hosts the magnificent Carnival of Venice that attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. This is when Venice is transformed into a city full of masks. - A beauty pageant named Volo dell’ Angelo. The winner of this pageant will get a ride on zipwire from campanile in the St. Mark’s square.
- The second best event is the run side-by-side competition which usually takes places in the St. Mark’s square.
- The third event is the multiple events held at once including water-borne pageants, bands, street artists and also re-enactments.
- There is also the Kids’ Carnival that your kids will love so much.
This carnival of mask has actually been held for decades. It has a history. From centuries ago, wearing mask was very common in Venice including during religious festivals. But then, wearing mask was only allowed during certain event and mostly banned during most of the events.
During the Carnival of Venice, the center of most attractions is the St. Mark’s Square. This is exactly the place to see the most unique and extraordinary costumes with masks.
