BURGOS CATHEDRAL – Breathtakingly Beautiful Building
Burgos Cathedral is a building located in Burgos, Spain that breathtakingly beautiful. The official name of the cathedral is Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Santa María de Burgos, or the Saint Metropolitan Church Cathedral of Saint Mary of Burgos.
Naturally, Burgos Cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the construction of the cathedral started in 1221 and held for centuries. Since it was built over many centuries, many architects and artists have contributed and donated diverse work arts such as tapestries, paintings, sculptures and tombs.
Burgos Cathedral was built during the time that Gothic architecture was widespread, and was influenced by some of the French Cathedrals. In the last years of construction, other styles of architecture, such as Renaissance and Baroque, can be seen here.
Burgos Cathedral was designated as World Heritage UNESCO on October 31, 1984. It should be noted that this is the only cathedral in Spain where the structure is the only heritage. For example, Santiago de Compostela designated by as UNESCO World Heritage Site including its old town.
