BLOEMENMARKT – Floating Flower Market
One of the unique attractions in Amsterdam, Netherlands is a floating flower market “Bloemenmarkt”. Of course, for plants lovers, this place is like a heaven.
Bloemenmarkt is a traditional flower market that sells various types of plants, both seeds or grown ones. Starting from tulips, roses, cannabis, until the carnivorous plants like venus flytrap.
Shops in the Bloemenmarkt floating on the Singel canal since 1862. The canal is located between Koningsplein and Muntplein and open every day from 9AM to 6PM.
According to Jordan, one of the seller who also an immigrant from the Middle East say the market will be very busy in summer. “Most tourists buying flower souvenirs are from Russia and Italy,” he said.
In the summer the Bloemenmarkt market does look incredibly crowded by visitors than in other seasons. In the winter, The market sells a lot of Christmas trees in various shapes and sizes.
