Besides dominated by Hindus, India also has a lot of Muslims. Many Islamic heritage sites located in the Indian capital, New Delhi. One Islamic site that very popular in India because of the grandeur of the architecture is the Jama Mosque.
Jama Masque is one of the great mosque in India. This mosque was built by Shah Jahan (who also built the Taj Mahal) in 1648, and dedicated to his lovely daughter, Jahanara Begum. The mosque was completed in 1656 AD and it is the largest and most famous mosque in India. Another name for this site is Jami Mosque. The mosque can accommodate about 25,000 worshipers, while the courtyard can accommodate up to 75,000 worshipers.
Jama Masque located on the side of a very busy highway in Old Delhi, Chadni Chowk Road. The mosque is facing west, At each of the three side of the mosque There are three gates, each gate having a high tower, visitors are welcome to go up to the top of the tower to see the view the city clearly.
The mosque is 80 meters long and its width is 27 meters. On the roof there are three domes that decorated by black and white marble with its top part decorated with gold. Jama Masque is also famous as one of the greatest and most magnificent mosques in the world which then become one of main destination for tourism in India.
